62 minors rescued from clutches of 'placement agencies'

"54 minor girls and eight boys, hailing from Jharkhand and other parts of the country were rescued in joint raid by Delhi Police, CID Jharkhand Police and activists of an NGO at seven placement agencies in Shakurpur late last night," said P Karunakaran, DCP North-West District.

During a probe, it came to light that minors hailing from different parts of the country were illegally being placed by some placement agencies and their agents as helpd at various places in the city.

The joint team include personnel from Delhi Police, CID Ranchi headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police of Jharkhand Police alongwith NGO Shakti Vahini raided various placement agencies situated in J J Colony at Shakurpur, the official said.
