63 new cases of swine flu; toll crosses 6,000 mark in Guj

Six more people succumbed to swine flu today and 63 new cases surfaced in Gujarat, crossing the toll of those infected with the virus to more than 6,000 and leading to 375 deaths since January this year.

The state today witnessed seven deaths due to the H1N1 virus along with 63 new cases, according to a release issued here today by the Gujarat state health department.

"Gujarat registered 63 new cases and seven swine flu deaths today, taking the death toll to 375, while the total number of cases reached 6,032 since January this year," it said.

Ahmedabad district reported two deaths, while Surat, Rajkot, Anand, Sabarkantha and Morbi districts registered one death each, the release said.
 

However, the Gujarat state government health department claimed that 5,075 people who were infected, have been cured and discharged from hospitals.
