64 exporters participating in 'Gulf Food 2017' in Dubai

As many as 64 exporters from the agriculture and processed food sector are participating in the five-day 'Gulf Food 2017' event in Dubai, the commerce ministry said today.

The show will start tomorrow.

The event assumes significance as UAE is a potential market for Indian food products such as basmati rice, fresh fruits & vegetables, buffalo meat, processed fruits, dairy products, wheat and other cereals.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) pavilion would be inaugurated Commerce Secretary by Rita Teaotia.

APEDA is mandated with the responsibility for promotion and development of the export of various agro products. India is one of the largest producer of food in the world.
 

India exports agricultural products to more than 80 countries.

In 2015-16, the exports stood at USD 16.19 billion.
