A 65-year-old farmer was arrested today for allegedly killed his 42-year-old son who was proving to be a hindrance in continuing illicit relations with his daughter-in-law in Aurangabad district, police said.

The accused chopped the body of his own son into pieces after allegedly killing him with an axe at their farm near Sillod village on July 14, an official said.

"The accused (name withheld) was having illicit relations with his daughter-in-law and viewed his son as an obstacle," said assistant police inspector Vishwas Patil.

Notably, the man had filed a missing person complaint with the local police stating that his son has become untraceable.

"He was arrested through the call detail records which showed that his son was present at the farm on the night of July 14," Patil said.

He said the father-son duo used to sleep at the farm in night while their families stayed back in the village.

During interrogation, the accused showed police the spot where he had buried his son, he said.

Police exhumed the decomposed body today and sent it for postmortem.

The accused has been booked under various sections of the IPC including murder, Patil said, adding further investigation is on.
