A 68-year-old woman was killed when her hut was allegedly torched by some miscreants in the district's Bahadurganj Guntia village, police said today.
According to police, one Ramlal, the husband of the deceased, identified as Ramdei, had last evening opposed illegal construction on gram sabha land in the village by some persons.
Angered by his opposition, the encroachers assaulted Ramlal and then set fire to his hut with Ramdei inside, said SP (city), Man Singh.
Ramdei, who suffered burn injuries, was rushed to the district hospital where she succumbed to her burns.
Singh said that an FIR in the case had been lodged against four persons, identified as Dhannu Singh, Raghvendra, Rajveer and Virendra.
