The sixth edition of the city's popular international literary festival, Tata LitFest, will begin from October 29 and Salman Rushdie's 'Two Years Eight Months And Twenty-Eight Nights' and 'Flood of Fire' by Amitav Ghosh will be in contention for award in the Fiction category.
The Tata LitFest gives away seven awards annually and organisers today announced the list of nominees in four categories.
The curtains on the sixth edition, being organised as the Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest, will come down at the NCPA (National Centre for the Performing Arts) auditorium in South Mumbai on November 1.

The nominees in the Fiction category consist of six books - 'Two Years Eight Months And Twenty-Eight Nights' by Salman Rushdie, 'Flood of Fire' by Ghosh, 'Sleeping On Jupiter' by Anuradha Roy, 'The Sun That Rose From The Earth' by Shamshur Rahman Faruqi, 'Until The Lions: Echoes from the Mahabharata' by Karthika Nair and 'The Book Of Gold Leaves' by Mirza Waheed.
The long-listed of nominees declared today include the First Book Award for Non-Fiction, the Book of the Year Award for Fiction and Non-Fiction and the Business Book of the Year Award.
These awards endeavour to recognise and promote literary talent across genres of literature, including distinguished and emerging writers alike. The winners will be announced at a grand ceremony to be held on November 1 at the NCPA.
Nominees in the Non-Fiction category include 'Sikkim: Requiem for a Himalayan Kingdom' by Andrew Duff, 'Midnight's Furies: The Deadly Legacy of India's Partition' by Nisid Hajari, 'Farthest Field: An Indian Story of the Second World War' by Raghu Karnad and '2014: The Election That Changed India' by Rajdeep Sardesai.
