Seven persons, including four All Assam Muslim Students' Union (AAMSU) have been arrested in two separate incidents in Assam's Sonitpur district today, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested three miscreants and recovered huge quantities of arms and ammunition from their possession in Dhekiajuli area, Sonitpur Superintendent of Police Sanjukta Parashar said.
The police recovered a hand grenade, two guns, five live cartridge, a detonator and few other explosives from the trio who were identified as Mohiuddin Islam, Abdul Barek and Nur Islam.

In a separate raid, four AAMSU activists were arrested for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a person from neighbouring Nagaon district.
The arrested activists have been identified as Samsul Ali, Moinuddin, Abhas Ali and Nur Islam and they were also wanted in connection with various extortion and kidnapping activities, Parashar added.
