7 Ashtdhatu idols found during excavation in Katihar

Seven Ashtdhatu idols of ancient times were found during an excavation work carried out for construction of a stadium in Bihar's Katihar district today.

Barsoi Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) C Prasad said the seven idols, which seem to be made up of Ashtdhatu, were found during excavation work for construction of a stadium in Belwa village under Barsoi police station of the district.

The police have kept the idols in its possession, the SDPO said adding, the police have contacted the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for the purpose of ascertaining its archaeological importance.

The idols are of different Gods and Goddesses and weigh between 500 gm to 1 kg, the SDPO said.
