7 bakery employees tonsure heads as mark of respect to Kalam

Seven bakery workers at Pollachi in the district tonsured their heads today as a mark of respect to late former President A P J Abdul Kalam, police said.

Rafeeq, Mohammed Jinna, Majid, Ravi, Nataraj, Krishnakumar and Nataraj working in different bakeries, came to the bus stand in Pollachi, about 35 km from here and got their heads tonsured, they said.

The workers said this was the least they can do for the 'people's President,' who had dedicated his life for the development of the nation and inspired lakhs of students

They also paid floral tributes to a portrait of Kalam which had been kept there for the public to pay homage.
 

In another tribute to Kalam, an autorickshaw driver here refused to take fares from passengers till noon, police said.
