Seven members of a gang, who were allegedly planning to free their leader when he would be brought for a hearing in a court, have been arrested, police said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandip Kumar Sharma said the members had planned to free their gang leader Jarnail Singh from the custody of the police party when they would bring him from Modern jail at Kapurthala to Judicial Complex for his trial in a criminal case yesterday.
However, they were arrested before they could execute their plan at Dhussi bundh in Dhilwan area, he said.

A pistol, a revolver, live cartridges and a sword were seized from their possession, police said.
A criminal case under various sections of IPC and the Arms Act was registered against them, they added.
