7 injured as mini trucks collide

A woman's right hand was severed and six others returning from a crematorium suffered injuries when two mini trucks collided at Sovabazar in the northern part of the city this morning, the police said.

The accident occurred on Aurobinda Sarani when members of a family were returning from Nimtala burning ghat in one of the mini trucks after performing the last rites of a relative.

A 35-year-old woman, Tapati Roy, lost her right hand in the accident.

She and another injured person remained admitted to state run RG Kar Hospital while five others were discharged after treatment.

The driver of the other mini truck was later arrested.
