Seven persons, including four policemen, were injured today when a mob attacked a police station and fought a pitched battle with police personnel in Vaishali district of Bihar, police said.
The mob attacked Bidupur police station and pelted stones at policemen alleging police inaction in the case of the death of a 12-year old Dalit girl whose body was recovered from Harpur Gopal village yesterday after she was reported missing on Friday.
The protesters vent their ire at the policemen leaving four of them injured even after being informed that the district magistrate had paid Rs 5,000 to the victim's family for cremation and promised to provide an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh besides setting up a police picket in the village, police said.

The injured policemen were identified as Additional Sub-Inspector Sudhir Kumar Singh and constables Shital Das, Dharmveer and Brajesh, they said.
As the situation got out of control, the police lobbed teargas shells and later fired in the air to disperse the protesters in which three villagers were injured.
A named FIR was lodged against 18 persons besides unidentified people in connection with the violence, the police said.
Another FIR has been lodged against four persons in connection with the girl's killing. All the four were absconding.
Meanwhile, a police picket was set up in Harpur Gopal village and police and civil officials were camping there.
