Seven insurgents of three outfits were arrested in joint operations in Assam while two other members of another rebel organisation surrendered in Meghalaya today, an Army spokesman said.
Two ultras of NDFB (Songbijit), two members and as many linkmen of the Karbi Peoples Liberation Tigers (KPLT), and one Muslim Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA) cadre were arrested from various parts of the state.
Army troops of the Red Horn Division along with Assam Police personnel apprehended these cadres including senior commanders in different operations.

In the first operation at Barshijhar area of Chirang district, two hardcore NDFB(S) extremists Bilifang Brahma and Khumpu Brahma were arrested.
Bilifang was involved in grenade lobbing on the Panabari Army Camp in Chirang district last year.
Both Bilifang and Khumpu were accused in several cases of murder, kidnapping and extortion, the spokesman said.
One .303 rifle, one country made rifle and other warlike stores were recovered from them.
In another operation, KPLT's 'area commander' of Chinthong, Chandro Kro alias Arsek, and another cadre Bidya Sing Kro alias Laher were arrested from Umlapher village in West Karbi Anglong region.
A 9 mm pistol along with 5 rounds of ammunition, two hand grenades (including one Chinese make) and extortion notes were recovered from them, the spokesman said.
Two KPLT linkmen Prakash Teran and Sarmen Bey were apprehended nearby Lounghanjhar village following questioning of the two.
In the third operation, MULTA cadre Nur Ali was apprehended from his residence at Chagoliya Part II in Dhubri district and a 9 mm pistol, four rounds of ammunition and a mobile phone were seized from him, the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, two UALA rebels surrendered to the Army troops and Meghalaya Police in North Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.
The two are self-styled sergeant major Krenibirth Momin alias Kakkam G Momin and 'corporal' Chenpang N Marak who had joined a breakaway faction of the Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC) in 2012 and then went to join the UALA in 2013, the spokesman said.
