7 J&K govt employees found absent from duties in Poonch,

Seven government employees were today put under suspension after they were found absent from their duties during a surprise inspection in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, officials said.

Additional District Development Commissioner Abdul Hamiedpaid a surprise visit to several government offices in Mandi to get first hand appraisal of their functioning and to check attendance of employees, an official spokesman said.

During the visit, he found seven employees from different departments absent from their duties without any permission, the spokesman said.

Taking note of the derelictions in duties, the absentees were immediately placed under suspension pending an inquiry into their cases, the spokesman said.
 

The ADDC also visited the offices of the Block Development Officer, the Treasury Officer and the Naib Tehsildar in Mandi and found irregularities in their attendance.

The erring officers were directed to explain their positions within two days through their Controlling Officers, failings which, warranted action under rules shall be initiated against them, he added.
