7 killed, 12 injured in 2 separate mishaps in UP district

As many as seven people, including two women and three children, were killed and 12 others injured in two separate road accidents in Uttar Pradesh's Kheri district today.

Five people sitting on the roadside were killed and two others injured when a recklessly-driven car ran over them near Andeshnagar in Phoolbahed police station area this afternoon, Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Amrendra Sengar said here.

Those killed have been identified as Matia Devi (30), Phoolmati (35), Ragini (9), Priya (5), and Sonu (6), the IG said, adding that the car driver fled the scene leaving the vehicle.

In another accident, Ramesh Chandra (22) and Karan (30) were killed and 10 others injured in a collision between two pick-up vans on Mailani-Bheera road in Mailani police station area this morning, the IG said.
 

The injured, including two women, have been admitted to hospital, the IG added.
