7 killed, 15 injured in two road mishaps in AP

Seven persons, including four children, were today killed and 15 others injured in two separate road mishaps in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district, police said.

A family of 11 members and their driver were returning from a pilgrimage to Tirumala in a car. They stopped their vehicle on a bypass road of Maderametla between 5 and 6 AM when a tipper-truck coming from behind hit the car, they said.

Car driver Nagaraju (30) and four children - Chinni Krishna Manohar (5), Chinni Krishna Vasavi (3), Guru Sri Krishna (3) and nine-month-old Nitya Sri - died on the spot, while one Gangamma (56) died during treatment, police said.
 

The other six persons travelling in the car sustained serious injuries. They were shifted to Ongole Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).

Darsi Sub-Divisional Police Officer V Rambabu said a case was registered at Maderametla police station in the matter.

In another accident, a car going to Bhadrachalem in Khammam district of Telangana collided with a lorry at Renamgivaram in Prakasam district at around 5 AM today, police said.

A woman, Ramadevi (56), hailing from Malkangiri district of Odisha, died on the spot in the mishap.

Besides, nine other persons in the car got injured. They were also shifted to Ongole RIMS.

Police Sub-Inspector, Renamgivaram, S K Shamimulla said a case was registered and investigation was underway.
