7 killed as truck collides with jeep in MP

At least seven persons, including six women, were killed and 12 others were injured today when a truck collided with their jeep near here, police said.

The truck collided head-on with the jeep on a road connecting Bakswaha and Hirapur towns under Shahgarh police station area at around 11 am, Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh said.

The truck was heading to Chhatarpur, he said, adding the jeep occupants were on their way to Bagajmata temple in Tikamgarh district.

Four persons died on the spot while three others succumbed to injuries in the district hospital at Sagar, the SP said.

All the injured persons were admitted in different hospitals at Shahgarh and Sagar, Singh said.
 

The deceased have been identified as Manjhli Lodhi (65), Sumat Rani Lodhi (70), Badi Bahu (70), Man Singh Lodhi (45), Siyarani (50), Shilrani (65) and Rukmani (35).

"We have registered a case and further investigation is on," the police officer said.
