7 killed in road mishap in Pb

Seven persons, including two women and as many children, were killed and one other sustained serious injuries in a car-jeep collision here, police said today.

The mishap occurred on the intervening night of February 6 and 7 near Chuppki village when two couples along with their children were returning to their homes from Patiala to Samana in a car after celebrating their marriage anniversaries, police said.

Upon reaching near Chuppki village, their car collided head-on with a jeep coming from the opposite direction, they said.

The deceased were identified as Gaurav (28), his wife Archana (26), Ankush (25), his wife Sandeep (23), one-year-old boy Ayam and jeep driver Makhan Ram (32).
 

One-year-old girl Rishu, who was rushed to a private hospital in a critical condition, succumbed to her injuries later in the day, police said.

Ayam was the son of Gaurav and Archana while Ankush and Sandeep were Rishu's parents.

The injured occupant of the jeep was admitted to a government hospital.
