7 persons given life term for double murder

A local court awarded life imprisonment to seven persons in connection with a double murder case of 2009.

The court also slapped fine of Rs 5000 on each of them.

Additional District Judge Prakasan Akkal held all the seven accused guilty of murder. Kundu alias Muniasamy, who played a key role in the killings, was awarded double life imprisonment.

According to prosecution, P Ramdoss (60) and his sister Kalimuthu (65) were attacked by the seven accused with sickle, and sharp sticks on Nov 28, 2009 following a dispute over forming irrigation channel at P Keeranthai Village near Kadaladi in this district.
 

Ramdoss died on the spot, while his sister succumbed at the hospital.
