7 police officials suspended for laxity in filing FIRs

Seven policemen, including two sub inspectors, have been suspended and six others sent to police lines for laxity in filing FIRs during a secret drive in the state recently.

DGP (Headquarters) had launched a secret drive to lodge test FIRs in 64 police stations of the state out of which nine police stations were found to be lax in performing the task, IG (Law and Order) A Satish Ganesh said here today.

Two sub inspectors and five constables have been suspended and three police station incharges, two head constables and a constable sent to police lines in this connection, he said, adding that besides inquiry by the DSPs concerned, disciplinary action would be initiated against them within 15 days.
 

Police officials who had gone to these police stations for lodging the FIRs had to return empty handed, he said.

The police stations which have been found wanting are - Cantt in Allahabad, Attara in Banda, Balauni in Baghpat, Nai Mandi in Muzaffarnagar, Daurala in Meerut, Mandrak in Aligarh, Kaudiya in Gonda, Bhamaura in Bareilly and Binawar in Badaun, he added.
