:The district Mahila Court today sentenced a man from nearby Annur to seven years Rigorous Imprisonment for abetting the suicide of his wife a year ago.
The prosecution case was that Chandran alias Jayachandran, a resident of Annur, some 35 km from here, used to frequently pick up quarrels with his wife in an inebriated condition.
Unable to bear this, she committed suicide in March 2013.

Police had registered a case under sec 306 (abetment of suicide), which was going on in the Mahila Court.
Judge N P Subramanian, delivering the judgment, ordered Chandran to undergo seven year's RI and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.
