The police today seized 70 cartons of branded foreign liquor being transported illegally from here and arrested two persons, the police said.
Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a mini-van carrying the liquors near MGM College and asked the driver to produce documents related to the consignment.
When he failed to show the required papers, the driver and his helper were arrested, the police said.
The minivan was transporting 30 cartons of beer and 40 cartoons of whisky from from Sakchi to Ghatsila.
Besides the liquor, the vehicle has also been seized.
Further investigation was on to ascertain whether the liquors were genuine, the police added.
