: Seventy sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs 38,000 in cash were stolen from the locked house of a transport corporation official at Kattoor area in the city.
Dhandapani, an assistant engineer in the State transport corporation had gone to Sathyamangalam in Erode district on Thursday after locking his house, police said.
On his return last night, he noticed the front door broken open and the valuables missing from the almirah inside.
Based on his complaint, a special police team was formed to nab the burglars, they said.
