An elderly man was allegedly stabbed to death by an 85-year-old man following a quarrel over operating a water pump today, police said.

Suman Ghosh (70) was allegedly stabbed five times with a knife by one Rahendra Chandra Roy (85) at a residence on Jatin Das Road in the Tollygunge Police Station area, they said.

"Roy allegedly stabbed Ghosh five times with a knife, after which he fled the scene and we arrested him from a nearby sweet shop. We are looking into the matter," a senior police officer said.
