A 70-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence in east Delhi's Trilokpuri area today.
The police suspects it to be a case of robbery by someone known to the victim, identified as Haseena Begum, as preliminary investigation suggested a friendly entry of the assailant in her house, said a police official.
The incident came to light in the afternoon, when Begum's 15-year-old grand-niece returned from school and found her lying in a pool of blood, said an official.

The police have registered a case of murder at Mayur Vihar police station and investigation is underway, said a senior official.
Neighbours of Begum told the police that they had last seen her in the morning when she returned home after dropping her grand-niece to a government school nearby, said a police official.
Begum and her husband, both natives of Bulandshahr in UP, had come to Trilokpuri around 10 years ago. Her husband, who was a cook, died in 2010 after which she inherited some property in the village. They had no children, said the official.
Begum also owned the house at Trilokpuri and had rented two floors. She sustained with the help of house rent. Around a month ago, Begum's nephew's family shifted to Trilokpuri and their daughter often used to visit her residence, said the official.
The police conducted a thorough search of the Begum's house, but they could not find the property papers in connection with the property she inherited from her husband, said the official.
Several police teams have been formed and dozens of neighbours, relatives and Begum's tenants have so far been questioned by the police, the official added.
