70-yr-old woman dies as grandson's gun fires accidentally

A 70-year-old woman was allegedly killed today when her grandson's gun went off accidentally in Dhana Khurd village in Hisar district, police said.

Real estate dealer Manoj was cleaning his gun in his car outside his house when the weapon accidentally went off, killing his grandmother who was present nearby.

The bullet, which pierced the victim Chandermukhi's neck, killed her on the spot, police said following preliminary investigations.

Family members had allegedly tried to secretly cremate the body of the deceased, but the move was foiled by police who arrived on the scene after receiving information about the incident.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hansi, S S Chehal said they have recovered the body of the deceased, which has been sent for a post-mortem.
 

Although no case has been registered yet, police said that they were probing the matter.
