The cartridges were recovered at the construction ground of a tennis complex in the area, they said.

During Bangladesh liberation war in 1971 there was a camp of liberation soldiers (Mukti Jodhas) in the place and the bullets were manufactured between 1963 to 1970, police said adding that many bullets had marks like 'PK' on them.

It is presumed that the cartridges were manufactured in Pakistan and the liberation soldiers (Mukti Jodhas) had stored them in their camp, they added.

Police have seized the bullets and sent them to forensic laboratory here for further investigation.

In 1971, Tripura accommodated 16 lakh refugees which was more than the state's own population at that time. Many camps of liberation soldiers too had mushroomed during that period.
