72% voting in Siddipet municipality polls

A healthy 72 per cent voting was today recorded in polls to Siddipet municipality which was by and large peaceful.

The civic body has 34 wards, of which representatives from 6 wards have been elected unopposed.

A total of 122 candidates are in the fray for the remaining 28 wards, where an average 72 per cent voting was recorded, official sources said.

Polling was delayed in a booth due to technical problem in electronic voting machine which was rectified immediately, they said.

Police used canes to disperse mobs near two polling stations.

All the 6 unanimously elected ward members belong to the ruling TRS.
 

Siddipet is represented in the Telangana Assembly by T Harish Rao, Minister for Irrigation and Legislative Affairs.

The votes will be counted on April 11.
