At least 73 teachers were today found absent from schools during a suprise inspection by education department officials in 812 government schools in Punjab.
An official spokesman said some 36 teachers also reported late to duty today.
The spokesman said new academic session has just begun in schools in the state and surprise checking is being conducted by officials to maintain discipline and punctuality in government schools.
Yesterday, at least 71 teachers were found absent during inspection by authorities in 601 government schools.
