Youth Congress in Jammu and Kashmir today took out a "victory rally" to celebrate the state government's move to empower panchayats in the state.
Dancing to the beat of drums and distributing sweets, the youths celebrated the state government's approval extending provisions of the 73rd constitutional amendment of the Indian constitution to the state for empowering panchayats.
The celebration was led by state PYC Chief Shahnawaz Choudhary at Congress office at Shahidi Chowk Jammu, and attended by Tourism Minister G A Mir, Minister of State Viqar Rasool and MP Madan Lal Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahnawaz said that this is the victory of the youth Congress and the people of the state, and thanked all the youth Congress workers across the state for fighting the battle.
He also thanked top Congress leaders including AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi, state congress chief Prof Saiffuddin Soz and Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
