As many as 75 IPS officers currently face disciplinary proceedings and 47 IPS officers face criminal investigations, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said FIRs have been registered against 47 IPS officers and chargesheets or challans have been filed in 20 cases.
"As per the information available, 75 IPS officers are currently facing disciplinary proceedings and 47 IPS officers are facing criminal investigation or proceedings," he said, replying to a written question.
Rijiju said five IPS officers have been retired in public interest by the government by invoking various provisions of the All India Services (Death-Cum- Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958, since 2014.
