75 pc of all national highways being built in Raj: minister

Public Works Minister of Rajasthan Yunus Khan today claimed that the state was leading in the country in the construction of national highways.

An average of 4 km of national highways are constructed daily and 3 km of this, close to 75 per cent, is being constructed in Rajasthan alone, Khan told the state assembly.

Replying to a debate on demands for grant for the department, he said the Rajasthan government is developing high quality roads, state and national highways and the road infrastructure in the state has improved in last three years.

He also made announcements for construction of several roads in various districts.
 

In his reply to the demands of grants for housing, Urban Development and Housing (UDH) minister Srichand Kriplani said the Vasundhara Raje government will start Mukhyamantri Jan Awas Yojna in all municipalities in the state to provide low cost affordable housing to poor.

He said under the scheme in 19 cities 15,517 beneficiaries of low income group people would be provided affordable houses for Rs 2.70 lakh.

After the replies, the demands for grants were passed by voice vote.
