An impressive 74.95 per cent voter turnout was recorded in three Lok Sabha constituencies in Chhattisgarh during the second phase of polling Thursday.
The final figures were declared Friday.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, an average 73.02 per cent voter turnout had been recorded in these three seats, which have some Naxal presence.
"Voting for the second phase was held in Kanker (ST), Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund Lok Sabha constituencies on April 18. It was by and large peaceful. Altogether 74.95 per cent voting has been recorded," a statement issued by the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said.
In Rajnandgon, 76.03 per cent polling was recorded, while Mahasamund and Kanker witnessed 74.51 per cent and 74.23 per cent voting, respectively.
Of the total of 6,484 polling booths across three seats, less than 10 per cent voting was registered in 15, while over 80 per cent voting was recorded in 1,919 polling booths. Over 90 per cent polling was recorded in 78 booths.
The fate of 36 candidates was locked in EVMs across three seats where the main fight is between the Congress and BJP.
