750 gm brown sugar seized, 2 nabbed

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel have seized brown sugar worth Rs 3.75 crore in the international market from two persons in Kishanganj district bordering Nepal, a senior SSB official said on Sunday.

Acting on a tip off that brown sugar would be smuggled to Khodiwadi area in West Bengal, a SSB team frisked the two men near Khodiwadi bus stop on Saturday.

Two packets of brown sugar, each weighing 325 gram, were seized from their possession, SSB commandant of 41st battalion Rajiv Rana said.

The two persons were nabbed by the SSB.

They will be handed over to the West Bengal Police after their interrogation, sources said.
