76 pc of complaints in women helpline solved

Highlighting efficient functioning of women helpline in Bihar, the state government today said that 76 per cent of the complaint of atrocities lodged by females have been solved.

This was stated by Minister for Social Welfare Lessi Singh in reply to a starred question of BJP's Prem Kumar in Legislative Assembly.

She said out of a total of 64,600 complaints lodged with women help line in the state, 49,012, which makes 76 per cent, have been solved.

She said that except for four districts, women help line is functioning in rest 34 districts of Bihar. The districts where women help line is not available at present included Banka, Khagaria, Katihar and Begusarai, she said.
 

Singh admitted shortage of counsellors and other staff at many help line in districts and announced in the House that recruitments to fill these vacancies would be completed in three months.

In fullfillment of its commitment towards women, the previous government of Nitish Kumar had initiate measures to set up women police station in every district besides help line for them.
