A total of 77 complaints of custodial killings, rape, torture and enforced disappearances against Army personnel has been received by the Army Headquarters here since 2012, with the maximum from Assam, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
While 38 complaints have come from Assam, the second highest is Jammu and Kashmir with 19 such cases, data given by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to Rajya Sabha showed.
Assam has shown a drop in complaints since 2012 while Jammu and Kashmir has seen a sharp increase in 2014.
While the northern state reported four such cases in 2012, it rose to five in 2013. However, in 2014, the number had increased to 10.
