As many as 77 full-time and 470 part-time Director posts are lying vacant in CPSEs across the country, Parliament was informed today.
The Boards of central public sector enterprises (CPSEs) consist of functional (full-time) directors, government (part-time) directors and non-official (part-time) Directors.
"As per available information, 77 posts of functional Directors and around 470 positions of non-official Directors are presently vacant," Union Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Anant Geete said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

The Minister further said that out of the 77 vacant posts of functional Directors in CPSEs, recommendations of Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB)/ Search-cum-Selection Committee are already available in respect of 38 posts and PESB/concerned administrative Ministry have initiated the selection process in respect of 31 other posts.
"The competent authority has approved the proposal for appointment in respect of 7 posts and 1 post is vacant due to Court case.
"In respect of vacant posts of non-official Directors, search committee has recently recommended names for filling up 156 positions on the Boards of various CPSEs of which 92 non-official Directors have already been appointed," Geete said.
