At least 78 people have been confirmed to be affected by Dengue in Mizoram since February this year, a senior state health department official today said.

Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) state Nodal Officer Dr Pachuau Lalmalsawma told PTI that the situation turned so in past few months and except for two, all other patients were infected locally.

The official said more than ten samples of suspected Dengue cases were being sent for tests.

"In view of more and more people coming forward for tests, the Dengue infection figure in the state may soon reach a hundred mark," he said, adding, the disease was not fatal and large majority of the patients have been cured.

There was a high possibility that many people might be cured without knowing that they were infected with Dengue, he said.
