7th Gangbal Yatra flagged off

The seventh annual Gangbal yatra in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district commenced today with special prayers by devotees to be held tomorrow.

The yatra was flagged off from Naranag base camp by commanding officer of Army's 24 Rashtriya Rifles battalion and Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal early this morning, Vinod Pandit, chairman All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee, which supports the pilgrimage, said.

He said around 100 yatris are taking part in the yatra this year. The sacred puja would be performed tomorrow on the banks of Gangbal lake, located in the foothills of Haramukh Mountain at an elevation of 3,570 meters, Pandit said.
