A total of 8.2 kg of gold, valued at Rs 2.80 crore, was seized today from two persons who arrived here separately from Riyadh and Muscat, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials said.
Acting on a tip-off, DRI officials seized four kg of gold from Muhamed Nisham of Thalassery in Kerala after he arrived from Riyadh in the early hours today, they said.
Based on the information given by him, they seized 4.2 kg of gold from Marzook Ali of Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu, who arrived from Muscat by another flight few hours later, they said.
Interrogations by the officials are in progress on how they managed to get the yellow metal into the country without declaring them, they said.
