Eight people allegedly involved in the killing of a 35-year-old man in Puducherry today were arrested from Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu within an hour of the crime committed, police said.
The prompt action by the Puducherry Police and the Tamil Nadu Police have earned them commendation certificates from Director General of Police S K Gautam, according to a release issued tonight.
The eight accused had come in a car to kill the man.

The motive behind the killing was not immediately known.
Superintendent of Police S Venkatasamy said the eight accused fled in the car after the crime. The vehicle was intercepted by Tamil Nadu Police in Cuddalore, about 23 kilometres from here.
DGP Gautam praised both the police departments for their prompt response.
