Eight people, including a woman, were arrested with heroin and cannabis in Jammu, Poonch and Udhampur and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said today.
During a surprise check at Reore Chowk in Samba district today, a scooter was intercepted and seven grams of heroin was seized from Sitaar Hussain and Dil Mohammad, a police officer said.
Both the accused were arrested and a case was registered at Bari Brahmana police station, the officer said.

Investigation into involvement of some other narcotic smugglers in the case is underway, he said.
In Jammu city, a car was stopped at a check point and 1.2 kg cannabis was seized from its two occupants, Abdul Rashid and Mushtaq Ahmed, both residents of Shopian district in South Kashmir, who have been arrested, the police said.
Last night, at Balol bridge, police stopped a car on its way to Jammu from Punjab and recovered 10 grams of heroin from Ravika and Gurdeep Singh, the two occupants of the vehicle. Both of them have been arrested.
A drug peddler was also arrested Poonch city with 540 grams of heroin, the police said.
