8 drug peddlers arrested

Eight drug peddlers including a woman have been arrested for allegedly selling narcotics to young students in the city, police said here today.

Three teenagers are among the 8 accused who have been arrested under a special campaign, DCP (East) Amandeep Singh Kapoor said.

Abhimanyu (19), Akshyaraj (18), Anil (19),Meera Devi (50), Lekhraj (30), Laxminarayan (41), Chandra Singh (48) and Shahid were selling opium and other drugs to young students near their institutions and places like billiard centres,

They call the drug by different names like 'Dalai Lama', 'LSD', 'Ecstasy', 'Potpuri', 'Veed', 'Bong', 'Buti' etc.

"We have identified places where opium, allopthic drugs is made available to young aged people and conducting raids," DCP Singh said.
 

They were held by special police teams while selling the drugs.

Separate cases have been registered against them with different police stations.

The campaign was conducted by ACP Sanganer Bagh Singh, SHO Pratap Nagar Rajveer Singh and other policemen under the supervision of the DCP.

Two constables Subhash and Ravindra Singh of Pratap Nagar police station had remarkable contribution in the campaign and they will be felicitated, DCP Singh added.
