Eight alleged drug peddlers, four of whom used to smuggle narcotics from across the Line of Control (LoC), were arrested and heroine, brown sugar and charas was seized from them in Kupwara district of north Kashmir, police said today.
Following specific information, the drug peddlers were arrested in two separate operations from Karnah near the LoC and main town Kupwara, a police spokesman said.
He said 1 km of heroine, 1.5 km of brown sugar and three km of charas were seized at the instance of the arrested peddlers.

"During the initial investigation, it surfaced that four people who have been arrested from Karnah used to smuggle the narcotics from across the LoC," the spokesman said.
He said police has registered a case and started investigations.
