8 held for bid to sell antique conch shell

Eight members of a gang were today arrested by police here for allegedly trying to sell an antique 'panchaloha' conch shell.

The Special Operation Team of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate conducted a decoy operation and nabbed M Biswani (75), who is into Ayurvedic medicine supplying business, along with seven others while they were trying to sell the conch shell at Neredemet area, police said.

The eight had formed a gang and were in search of prospective customers to sell the conch shell weighing 4 kgs with scriptures for around Rs 1 crore, they said.

Police said they are trying to ascertain the antiquity of the conch shell.
