Eight fishermen from Karaikal, about 345 kms from here, were arrested for allegedly using "banned fishing nets," while fishing off Thondi coast here today, police said.
The fishermen not only used the banned fishing nets, but also snapped the nets of a group of fishermen from Thondi, at Thiruvadanai, they said.
The Karaikal fishers were caught by the Thondi fishermen and later handed over to the police, they added.
