At least eight persons were killed and 30 injured when the mini-lorry they were travelling in was hit by a bus at Manapparai in Tiruchirapalli district today, police said.
The victims were on their way to a temple when a Tiruchirappali-bound private bus hit the rear of the vehicle.
Following the impact, the lorry was pushed into a roadside trench, police said, adding eight persons were killed on the spot.
All the injured have been admitted to a local government hospital, police said.
