8 killed as vehicle falls into gorge in J&K's Kishtwar

Eight people, including two police officials, were killed and two others injured when a vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down a deep gorge today in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A Tata Sumo, which was on its way from Dachhan belt to Kishtwar, skidded off the road and plunged into the gorge at Pinjrari-Dachhan this morning, police officials said.

Eight persons, including an assistant sub inspector and a constable, died on the spot while the two injured persons were taken to a nearby hospital, they said

A minor girl and a 17-year-old youth were also among the dead, police said, adding, the rescue operation was carried out by police and army personnel with the help of locals.
