8 killed in Pak landslide

At least eight people, including seven children, were killed and four others injured in a landslide in the tribal region in northwest Pakistan today.

An official said the landslide occurred in mountainous Sikandaro Kandao village in Bajaur Agency when people were gathering mud to build a house.

The bodies of the victims were retrieved by local people. The dead include six girls, a boy, and a woman. The Khasadar Force rushed to the spot and carried out rescue and rehabilitation activities.

In other incident, two civilians sustained injuries when an improvised explosive device went off at Landi Kotal in Khyber Agency.
 

Authorities said the IED kept in a plastic bag, exploded at Zakhakhel Adda Rangra market, partially damaging three vehicles besides injuring two civilians.

Security forces cordoned off the area and a search operation has been initiated.
