Eight people went missing today after a seven-story residential building collapsed in a landslide in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, hours after rainstorms hit a county, the state-media reported.
A seven-story residential building collapsed in the landslide, which occurred around noon in Maoping Township, Baihe County in the city of Ankang, officials said.
A total of 39 people from 11 households were living in the building. An initial investigation showed that eight people were missing. Rescue work is under way, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The county was hit by rainstorms over the weekend.
